Laptop Computer Sale
Finding a new laptop computer on sale or a refurbished one at a great price might not be as hard as you think. But you must do your homework first. Finding the best laptop at the best price is easiest when you:
Determine your needs. What do you need a laptop computer for? Will you check email and browse the Internet? Do you want to organize your finances on spreadsheets and do word processing? Are you a movie buff and need DVD capability on your laptop? Before you even think about purchasing a new computer, figure out what you really need your laptop to do for you. Resolve not to buy a computer that has speed or memory you probably won’t need.
Window shop on the Web. The easiest way to research a vast number of laptop brands, models and features is via the Internet. Find computers that have the features you want most and bookmark the pages. That will make it easier to compare brands and models later. Read reviews. Once you get a feel for the laptops you like, go to your local retail outlet to see them in person.
Now that you’ve done your homework, it’s time to buy. Or is it? Chances are, the computer you want will eventually go on sale, but you might have to be patient. Watch your newspaper for back-to-school sale ads. Waiting for after-Christmas sales can pay off big for consumers because retailers become anxious to move inventory out before a new year begins. Businesses will often cut prices on “older” models when the new models arrive.
Consider settling for less, then upgrade later. A modest computer, when purchased at half-price, can often be a tremendous one with a few upgrades – a faster modem, larger hard drive or more memory -- and you still won’t have invested the money in it that you would have invested in the top-of the-line computer that first caught your eye. And if the computer you’re shopping for will be a second computer for your household or a child’s first computer, it might only be necessary to spend a few hundred dollars to get a computer that meets your needs.
If you still can’t bring yourself to pay retail for a new laptop computer, or you aren’t willing to wait until it goes on sale, consider buying a refurbished or re-certified one. Perhaps the computer was scratched or slightly damaged and could no longer be sold as “new.” Or a customer decided they would return their purchase so they could get a different model. Companies inspect and repair each computer to factory specifications, and then repackage it before offering it for sale. These laptops might have a limited warranty, as well.
